ITU-T P.1110 Wideband In-Vehicle Hands-Free Voice Quality Test
All test cases based on ITU-T Recommendation P.1110 have been commercialized as the ACQUA standard P.1110.
In-vehicle hands-free calling faces numerous acoustic challenges such as low S/N ratio, echo, double talk, and RF transmission interference, making it a difficult task to achieve good call quality. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) specifies ITU-T Recommendation P.1110, which includes tests and requirements for the voice quality of wideband in-vehicle hands-free calls. ITU-T Recommendation P.1110 outlines testing methods for essential elements of call quality, including loudness rating, transfer function, idle channel noise in both the transmission and reception directions, suppression of out-of-band signals, echo attenuation, and minimum activation levels. It includes tests for factory-installed hands-free systems, commercial hands-free car kits, and both wired and wireless in-vehicle headsets.
